Frequently Asked Questions

What is this site?
A free Bible verse tool built around two things: a truly random verse generator that draws uniformly from all 31,102 verses of the King James Version (plus the World English Bible for modern English), and a daily verse that rotates once per day from a curated pool of 417 passages. Alongside those: twelve themed verse collections (anxiety, strength, hope, love and more) and practical guides on memorizing verses and reading the Bible daily.
Is the random verse truly random?
Yes. Each draw happens in your browser and is uniformly distributed across all 31,102 verses — books, chapters and verses are weighted by their actual verse counts, so no part of the Bible is favored. There is no curated shortlist behind it. You can also deliberately draw from a curated theme list of fifteen verses if you want a topic-relevant result.
Which translations do you use?
Only two, both public domain: the King James Version (1611) and the World English Bible. Copyrighted modern translations such as NIV, ESV, NASB or NLT are not reproduced anywhere on this site — publishing them requires a license. Every verse card toggles between the KJV and the WEB.
Is it really free — and where does the verse text come from?
Free, no signup, no newsletter wall. The verse text is served from this site's own copies of the public-domain KJV and WEB texts. During the build, every curated reference (417 daily verses and 180 theme verses) is checked against those files verse by verse; if a reference is wrong or missing, the build fails. No verse on this site is written or paraphrased by AI.
Can I copy and share the verses?
Yes, freely — including commercially. Both translations are public domain, so the text may be copied, printed, posted and republished with no license or fee. Each verse card has copy, share and image-download buttons; the generated 1200x630 cards are yours to use anywhere.
How does the verse of the day work?
Your local date is mapped to a fixed position in a curated pool of 417 verses — so everyone sees the same verse on the same date, it changes at midnight in your timezone, and reloading cannot change it. The KJV and WEB pages share one schedule, showing the same passage in the two translations.
